When Is the First Day of Spring?

Mindy:  It has been a while since I last made a post to this blog.  This photo was taken about March 3rd.  It was cold and snowy.  I was sure I would see at least some signs that spring was on the way, but no, I had to wait.

So I took a nap.

Then another nap.

However, today, March 18, the sun is shining and I sit in my favorite window and enjoy the heat!  Our snowbanks are shrinking.

Here are two of our neighbors pushing the snow around a couple of weeks ago.

One more of me, Mindy, sitting on the coffee table and showing off, just a little bit.  Really though, I hope you also like the amaryllis plant we got for Christmas. It bloomed for weeks!

Mombean and I hope all is well with everyone in the cat blogosphere!

Mid September Already!

Mindy reporting in, yes it's been a while though!!  I am enjoying these warm, sunny days during September.

I am well and still have a good appetite.  Not bad for a seventeen year old!

 I don't hear quite as well as I used to, but well enough to not miss the activities going on in our kitchen.   I hang out there and because I am polite with my supervising, I get treats.  All the treats since I am the only cat now......and loving it!

Mindy

I spend quite a bit of time on a table in front of an open window where I can watch the activities going on outside.

There is one annoying thing, er cat, that is.  Her name is Miss Callie and she invades my yard almost every day.  She lives a few houses away on our street.

 Miss Callie

Here she is on my doorstep.  She would love to get in and visit my people, but I always chase her off.  I get my fur to stand up and hiss real loud at the doorway.  Always works!

Miss Callie often goes across our street to our neighbour, who does not have a cat, but has lots of cat treats.  Needless to say, she visits there every day and is allowed into that house for her treats.

Me, I am happy to go onto our back deck occasionally for a short time only.  My humans keep watch because another neighbour cat, Bruno, often visits our yard.  Bruno is twice my size and he likes to fight.  Even if I am sure I could look after myself, my humans keep watch.

However most of my time is spent supervising all household activities and with finding the most comfortable places for my naps.

There's my update for now, all is well.

Sunday, and Maybe Some Rain?

We would really like some rain, as there has been a drought all summer long.  Supposedly, we are to expect some this afternoon, in fact- due in a couple of hours - we shall find out soon.

Mindy

 I really love flowers.  They are sometimes quite tasty and I like to poke holes in the leaves and petals.  However, I am very good today, as no flowers have been harmed - yet!

Mike

I see some cat approaching our deck.  However, I am guarding it.

Miss Callie -I see you, up there!

 I am not happy to see you though.  You have a home and your own deck to climb on.

Mike

  scram Miss Kitty!!

Mindy

Good job Mike!!  Miss Kitty is gone home to her own deck!

Look what our mom brought home!

 As long as they don't sleep in our nap spots or eat our food, they can stay.

So far, they have not moved from this spot. 

Heh, our threats have worked!

It is Thanksgiving Weekend and Monday is turkey day!

We are expecting to celebrate by feasting on turkey.

October Today!

It still feels like summer to us, though.

Mindy

 Lots of sunshine, actually it has been nonstop all summer - sunshine and warmth.

 This means we have to watch our water supply.

 We have plenty in our water dishes thankfully. 

 Mike

 I did check on our water dish, now that you mention it Mindy.

The days do feel like summer, however, it gets dark much earlier now.

I think this means "fall" is here.

However, the leaves on our trees have not "fallen" yet.

Labour Day

We are in Canada so today, our calendar says it is

Labour Day

It is celebrated on the first Monday in September.

It is supposed to be a day to relax and enjoy the last days of summer. 

Here is our dadbean, but we don't think he is relaxing.  He has his work gloves on.

Me too!  Although I think I heard something out on our deck.

It is "Miss Kitty" , she lives a few houses away.

No manners though!  She is on our deck and lying on our patio table.

What nerve!

Time for you to return home, it is nearing 6:00pm and you are not allowed out after that time......so bye, bye!

Hope everyone is safe from the hurricane threats, we are only supposed to get some rain tomorrow.

We are having a relaxing day.

Mike

It is lovely, warm and sunny.  I thought I would catch a few ZZZZZZ's while things are still quiet.

Mindy

I have that idea too, good suggestion Mike

Oh, I think our human beans have gone out.

We are almost out of Temptations treats

Mike

 I hope they bring back billions of bags of treats with some new flavors.

Hope our visitors have a great weekend and never run out of yummy treats.

Sunny Sunday

Sunday should be sunny, and it is!

Mike

I am outside on our deck.  I convinced our 'dad' to bring out the ZOOM groom.

 Mike

 Just the right spot!

Now I'm handsome and happy too.

Mindy

I do not need a grooming just now.

I am going to relax and keep an eye or perhaps 2 eyes on everything that is going on today.

Mindy

I did a complete check on everything,  however, there is not much going on.  It is Sunday and very quiet.  I do not even see many birds at our feeder, I think they came early this morning - they were the 'early' birds!

Mike

Well, in that case, it is time for a snooze and a chance to watch TV to catch the last day of the Olympics.

I think I need to keep my eyes open for that though!

They smell good, and I might just have a little, tiny, taste.

 Well that did not work

 My mombean thought I might want to snack on the flowers, so they got put away.

Instead I got some Temptations snacks - way better!

Our Garden on Wednesday

The warmer days are here at last!  We were a bit worried because of some cool, windy days earlier.  Feels like summer.

Mindy

This plush, soft, throw is across the end of the bed I like to sleep on.   It was a gift and if you are a Dr. Who fan, you will recognize the phone box theme. It has become my favorite nap spot.

Mike

I am frequently on the kitchen counter top.  It is especially important to snoopervise preparation of our meals.  I even offer to help out.

Oh, yes, we would like to show you some of the flowers in our garden.

 This is a honeysuckle bush in bloom.  The bees like these blooms.

....and these flowers plant themselves here and there wherever they please.

Our mom'bean' calls them columbine

A couple of years ago we put up a birdhouse

...and finally we have tenants!  A family of chickadees.  Looks like it needs a new paint job though.

Other birds come into our garden as well

A purple finch is at the feeder now.

if you look on the left, you can see a bird in flight, attempting a landing on the other side.

What else can we show you?

Oh yes, our birdbath.  It seems to be used by the birds for drinking water.

  This is my favorite spot, on the coffee table, for keeping track of all that goes on.  However, today is a quiet day, too warm to do anything that requires excessive use of energy.

 I agree totally with Mindy, I am snoozing in my favorite office chair.  I am supposed to be helping with today's post, but a quick nap is important too.
