Cookie is Thankful!

Cookie here: All of your purrs, grrrs, purrayers, whinnies, stomps, chirps and snorts of encouragement and positive feelings for me, have been working!!
I can see again! THANK YOU!!

Perhaps not 100 percent, but I am well able to go from room to room without bumping into anything. As many of you already know, I went to my vet to get my teeth cleaned, but something unusual happened that never occured at that clinic before - I lost my sight when I woke up. They took good care of me and did lots of research and said there was a chance I would regain my sight within two weeks, but I was their first case of this unusual occurence.
After a week and a half, I went back to the vet for followup and had a great check-up......and they gave me a test. They tried standing in front of me, but I went around the vet and the vet-techs without running into them. This made them so happy. Of course I am even more happier that I did not run into anyone or thing!
I still have trouble with depth perception, at least I heard the beans talking about this. Not sure what that is but I think it is why I am not allowed to go up and downstairs on my own - on account of, I can't see the edges of the steps very well.
Oh, and the vet said I couldn't go outside. I promised I would stay on the deck, but of course that is a NO for me. I guess they know I will try to get off and go look for some yummy grass to chow down on. Guess I will have to stay in our office and make sure mombean gets our posts organized to publish.
Look, I have the office chair first.

I am so thankful that everyone's healing thoughts for me have helped me through my struggles with temporary blindness - at least it was temporary! Now I want to take a moment to pass on my own purrs and purrayers to all of those in the Cat Blogosphere that are in need and have their own serious health issues. Mombean was telling me that there are many that we need to keep in our thoughts and in our hearts.

Headbutts and purrs from Cookie.

Fog on Friday

Hi, it's Mindy.

I am watching the mancats I live with. Moe is really being silly because mombean brought in a few catnip leaves from our plant on the deck. I like it in moderation, but Moe goes nuts.

The others, meh, take it or leave it. Moe? He looks a little 'out of it'.

I think I will find a comfortable spot to spend today. Yesterday mom took this photo of our sky in the morning, only the sun was redder than this

Then mom came up with one of her mom-isms - it went like this.
'red sky in the morning, sailors take warning'

If you say so mombean! We did get wind and then fog

This is our front yard, our roadway and beyond is our neighbour's yard and you can definitely see fog.

Our local forecast for Friday is possible thunder showers -oh no! at the first boom, I will be in hiding.

Helpful on Thursday & Farewell to Ninifee

We just found out that our friend Ninifee in Germany, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to join her boyfriend Pigeldy. Christiane is heartbroken and we have lost a good friend. We send comforting hugs and purrs.
..............................

Well, we had good intentions today. We were going to help mombean wif da laundry.

Mombean says it's gonna rain today so she is putting it off. Darn, we always snoopervise and make sure the laundry has lots of furs. Sometimes, oops, it lands on da floor.

Cookie says:

Mike is trying out my new 'room'

I think he finds it comfy.

Cookie Reports

Cookie on Wednesday: I'm giving a bit of an update --

All of your purrs, purrayers and good thoughts have been working for me - a big THANK YOU!! Even though I am still without sight, I'm a much happier mancat. Confusion is now being replaced with routines and I can find things better. Mombean helped me figure out how to get in and out of my 'room' (the giant-sized woofie crate) . It has a lip on the front about 4 inches high, so mombean left the door open and put my front paws up over it onto the floor outside and left my hind paws inside it, and I went out like this a few times. Now that I know I am not going to fall of a cliff, I go in and out on my own now, which is good 'cause that's where my things are.

Mike comes in and hangs out wif me, just like old times, but he has a habit of helping himself to my snacks. I got lots of those and mombean says I have even put on some weight. She and da vet worried I wasn't eating and drinking enough - ha! That stinky goodness I get sure is yummy.

I'll update if I have more news to share and once again thanks so much for your support, it has meant a lot to all of us!! The CB is so caring.

Cookie: I'm much calmer today. Yep, that means that I wasn't when I woke up at the vet hospital and couldn't see anything. Since I can't see to get around, I need a safe place to stay when no one is around to help me, like at night.

At first I fought being my new 'room'. I tipped over my water dish and then walked through my litter box, of course I shook my paws. Mom said I was messy, the wet litter makes a kind of mud which dries like cement.

Mombean had to put me in a tub with a couple of inches of water. Yuck.

That was okay because I couldn't really clean my feet with all that litter clay on them.

Then she had to clean the tub.

My beans got me a new kind of litter called silica crystals.

I tried walking on it and it sounds crunchy and feels strange, but I'm getting used to it. I can't make as much mess with it - oh well, fun while it lasted. Even though it is low, I am still sometimes missing the box. My new 'room' is such a nuisance.

My favorite thing to do though is get comfortable in my new bed, which is in 'my' our office and guide mombean through our blog posts when I know she is at the computer.

As you can see I take frequent snooze breaks. These pictures show I have no tail, that is because I am also a cancer survivor and have had my tail tumor removed a year and a half ago. That adjustment wasn't as hard as this one is.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Cookie is Home

Cookie reporting, with assistance: I am home and so glad of it too! Home is best and I can really get a good rest now.

I don't remember much since early Thursday when I went to the vet to get my teeth cleaned. Good news is they are clean and I didn't lose any teeth while I was sleeping, but I did lose my sight. It became a big mystery at da vet hospital. The staff made lots of phone calls and got on the internet and it seems that I have about a fifty/fifty chance I will get it back, I figure that is way better than zero.

My beans took me to the emergency clinic for the night. The staff took good care of me, but it was hard to get comfortable, I had a IV in my arm and they gave me oxygen but I didn't feel much like eating or drinking. The place was busy. Mombean said they brought in two large and very sick woofies. Mombean said the front doors at this place were guarded by two big fluffy kitties. Mom thought they probably lived there.

Friday dadbean took me back to the vet clinic and I stayed there until today. Da vet thought it best if I was confined at least for a little while until I get my bearings and learn all over again where things are. So I got sent home wif dis big pet carrier. Take a look,I'm told it is LARGE and roomy enough for me and all my stuff.

Nice gesture, but I don't like it!

My beans bought me a new bed and put it in the PTU, nope, not gonna try it in there. Then mombean brought it out of there. Well, I walked around on it for a while and then I felt sleepy. You know, it's kinda soft and just my size. Ahhhh, I think I will nap now and forget all about the last coupla days.

Oh, almost forgot, THANK YOU so much for all the get well wishes and the encouragement!! This means a lot to me and I will try very hard to get back to my 'old self'......I can say that because I am a senior kitty....'night...ZZZZZZZZZ.

Purrs for Cookie

Cookie is in the emergency clinic and spent the night there.

He developed a complication following a routine procedure, which could leave him permanently blind.

Yesterday, Cookie went into our vet clinic to have his teeth cleaned. He is an older cat and his vet felt that bacteria in his mouth could affect his heart. He had tests for blood, heart and kidney function the day before as a routine check up. His kidneys are responding well to his daily supplement which is good news.

However, he was put under anesthesia for the cleaning and was doing well following this, but sometime later it was discovered that he could not see probably due to a blood clot or sometimes it is because of lack of oxygen. He did so well on his tests, that this was not considered a risk and his vet clinic had never ever had such a case before. So he is getting oxygen therapy and he is not very happy. It is possible he my regain his sight, we of course are hoping for that. In the meantime, we are trying to get him eating and drinking. His is a smart cat and knows he is in trouble and loudly expresses his frustration.

Today we are taking him from the overnight emergency clinic and returning him to the vet clinic and hoping for some good news.

Whitey Wednesday

Hi everyone!
BonBon, aka Bono - taking over blog duties today.

I am mombean's quietest mancat. I decided to let mom take my photo and she agreed to help me with posting our blog today.

We kitties spend a lot of time watching the critters in our backyard. Today I want to show you the squirrel on mombean`s "squirrel proof" bird feeder. This is a very highly movitated squirrel because, as you can all see, nothing stops it from raiding those sunflower seeds. I find the whole process highly entertaining, of course, especially when mom gets highly annoyed with the critter.
I keep telling her that I could take care of the problem for her, heh.

Another critter that made mombean much happier instead, is this luna moth.

It crawled over her hand and she got a picture of it, then she put it deep inside a rhodendron bush so it would be safe until evening when they normally emerge. They usually hide during daylight, but this one mom found hiding in a plastic bucket.

The next picture is for those who like lighthouses. We have some of these in our area. Mom took this one on Canada Day. This one is still is use.

Mombean said the small beach looked so inviting on a warm day.

Not too far from the lighthouse, she got this photo -

She called it 'whimiscal' ...... huh? okay, mombean, I'll post it anyway.

Team Tabby Takes a Break From Blog Hiatus

Friends, mombean and the five of us kitties have been extremely neglectful of our blog posting in the past, what? two months at least. Were you all aware that since the last time we posted it has rained? Almost every day. There was even rain today

We tried our best to keep mom crazy from GOING crazy. We needed to keep her busy while we napped so we suggested, since she was trapped indoors anyway, that she redecorate our living space. Therefore, almost all the upstairs rooms have been repainted. Guess what everyone? That is a LOT of snoopervising. We're exhausted!!

BonBon: I was in charge of one of the most important duties -

.... making sure our pot of precious catnip got watered by all that rain. Isn't it coming along nicely?

Mindy: I encouraged mombean to take rest breaks with me because

I love to have mombean scratch my belly

Moe: I am a mancat with a busy schedule, I have make sure that there are no introoders on the property

This is a busy job, because this critter keeps raiding the birdseed mom puts out.

anyone want me to transport it to your yard?

Mike: Could I have a little, care and attention?

You see, here's the situashun. I hadda go to that stabby place, anyone know that place? Da vet on duty stabbed me, oh yes, I do not lie. I am not trying to get sympathy, but it would really help if you could send me some.

Cookie: Pay no attention to Mike, he's fine. He's eating again - his own food and as much as he can scarf off of everyone else's food dishes.

Sometimes I get to go out on the deck and hang out wif mombean. I love fresh air and eating grass...mummm.

Here is a plant in our yard the hummingbirds really like.

Mombean calls it climbing honeysuckle and got the picture when we had about 15 minutes of sunshine! We sincerely hope everyone is enjoying a happy and restful weekend. Hugs and purrs to all.

PS - is anyone else having trouble saving and publishing?
