Photo Hunt - Paper

This weeks Photo Hunt is paper. We have lots of paper here, oodles 'n oodles. I was helping mom empty storage boxes - 33 of them. These cartons were in storage she said for thirty (yes, 30!) years. No, they weren't ours, we just got the job of unpacking and sorting. My main job was to "help".

I was hoping for some fun stuff to play with. Nope it was all very boring.

There was so much paper, and it smelled funny. Mom thought so too. She filled about twenty blue bags for recycling. The cartons are kind of a paper as well. I didn't find any cool cat toys to play with. Mom needs to find a home for some of this stuff, so she going to have a yard sale. Maybe with the proceeds us cats can get some treats - sounds like a plan.

Fashion Friday

Well we’re no fashion divas , so we’ll go with Formerly Feral. I’m over the feral kick, tho, guess you could say. However, these toes are not exactly fashionable , but they are CLEAN. Mom says they need nail trimming. Hope she gets so busy she forgets about that……Moe

Fashionable, nawh. I’m going with cute. I couldn’t find a dimple tho. Rule out cute. My nose is two different colors – rose and pink - does that give me character?…….Mindy

We Are Touched

...That Mickey gave us the Nice Matters Award!

It was Mickey who introduced us to the Cat Blogosphere recently. We are very happy to be here and be a part of this cat-munity. We would like to pass the Nice Matters Award along to Samantha & Tigger, they are wonderful friends from Florida!

It's Monday

I was thinking of posting a nice mancat picture. I was going to try a pose that set off my furrs nicely. Maybe fix mom's flashy box with the strong and silent look.... however I got distracted. There was the smell of catnip on the cat mat and Mindy was pretending she had nothing to do with this. Ruined my plans.

Tribute to a Great Cat

We Pay Tribute to Skie
by Moe & Mindy

Skie went to Rainbow Bridge a little over a year ago…no, wait…. this isn’t a sad story at all. We would like to tell you about our awesome foster furbrother. He was with us for a year and a bit. He needed a new home, the place where he was had too many cats for him and he got really stressed out. Skie needed peace and quiet because of his heart condition. At the time he came with us, he was eight years old. You could say he was what the ‘beans call “high-strung”. Well he came to the right place cause we are perfect mannered, quiet kitties.

Well, Skie, couldn’t quite take ‘perfect’. He set out to change all that. We were taught not to get up on the tables, counters etc. There was no stopping him, he taught us lotsa cool stuff. We looked up to him, and there was never a serious argument. We loved it when he would get up on the microwave box above the counters and then mom would come along to use it and get freaked out when she saw him staring down at her.

Skie ate almost every plant, vase of flowers in the house….and mom definitely loved her flowers. She tried hanging them up…..well you get the picture. He was an indoor cat because he was declawed. However, did that stop him from getting out? We never saw a cat move so fast! To keep him in, the door would have to be closed ALL the time. Well he eventually leaned how to push open the screen door too, and out he went.

Skie wasn’t afraid of visitors to our home. He would let ‘beans approach him and allow them only 5 pats on the head – not more. If there were more attempts, he would hiss, yowl and swat at the perpetrator….(he was clawless remember) Then he would walk around the room growling. Some ‘beans were afraid of him. Mom, dad and Tall Son simply got used to his antics. He never really hurt anyone, and some ‘beans were downright amused by him. His favorite thing was to get on mom’s (or dad’s) chest when she was lying down to read or watch TV. Then he would curl up on her and purr up a storm……the picture of peace and contentment. We were never sorry we took him in. He was active and happy until he left us and we all miss him a lot. We have lots of wonderful memories.

PS - we still get up on the counters and tables, just like Skie taught us – mom just hates that.

Formerly Feral Friday - but it's NOT Friday anymore!

Oh, well, guess I missed it. Not to worry. This is a picture of me, Mindy. I like this little table. It has a comfortable mat and a cat-sized afghan on top. From here I can see whatever is going on because I am between the kitchen and the dining room. Do other cats have days where they want to view the world from this upside down angle?

Meme - About Our Home

We were tagged by Mickey.

What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now? We just took a look – there’s 2 bottles of shower gel, 2 kinds of shampoo and some bar soap. Good to see the ‘beans are well supplied.

Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator? Yuck, no way! Well maybe mom likes it.

What would you change about your living room? Oh, maybe some skylights, then we would be sure of having some sunlight to bask in.

Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty? There are no dishes in the dishwasher, but I think there is an instruction manual. The ‘beans definitely have a problem here.

What is in your fridge? Good things – stinky goodness, milk, lunch meat, and our personal favorite – cottage cheese!!

White or wheat bread? Matters not, we like it toasted with butter.

What is on top of your refrigerator? Moving picture box.

How many plants are in your home? None that matter, our catnip is back outside though so it can grow some more leaves.

Is your bed made right now? We make our beds every time we want to nap, fluff it up just so.

Is your closet organized? The more sweatshirts on the floor the better – to nap on.

Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home? Metal downstairs and plastic upstairs.

Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now? No, we never developed a liking for iced tea.

If you have a garage, is it cluttered? No thank goodness, or it would definitely be cluttered bigtime.

How many pillows do you sleep with? We each have a favorite floor pillow.

How often do you vacuum? Too often, that rug sucking monster is way too loud.

Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch? Two of them.

What is in your oven right now? Oven racks – is that the right answer?

Is there anything under your bed? We make sure there is nothing alive under the beds, that’s our job.

Chore you hate doing the most? We really hate having our nails trimmed.

What retro items are in your home? We’re too young to know which items are retro…..ask mom, she’ll know.

Do you have a separate room that you use as an office? You must mean the laundry room, we do our business in there.

How many mirrors are in your home? There is a really cool one in the bathroom, nice and long, we can see ourselves in it – they may be others around on the walls or somewhere.

What color are your walls? Mom keeps changing them, hard to keep up with what colours. The colours have really strange names like Concord Ivory and Celery Ice.

What does your home smell like right now? A little while ago, it smelled really nice. We think it might have been when mom was cooking dinner.

Favorite candle scent? We are not allowed to be around candles.

What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now? Pickles, we’re not sure what you mean. Mom is always talking about ‘being in a pickle’, but we don’t think we ever saw her in the refrigerator.

Ever been on your roof? Oh man, we wish!!! What a view up there. Almost as good is the attic, it’s a great place to do some serious sleeping.

How many house phones? We’ve seen mom walking around with one and there’s one in the kitchen.

What style do you decorate in? As kitty-comfortable as we can get it.

Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints? Well, we both agree that prints hide the cat hair better.

Is there a smoke detector in your home? You must mean those round blinky things in the ceiling.

In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip? We would take mom, dad and Tall Son and all of us get out - fast.

This is lots of fun and we would like to tag zippy, sadie and speedy ‘cause their blog always makes us laugh.

Gorgeous Gingers

Well this is how I'm going to spend Gorgeous Gingers Day - napping.

I looked out the window already, it is drizzly, it is cool and I don't see much going on out there - perfect day to curl up and nap - with one eye open in case something exciting does happen.

Here is another nap spot I like. It is near the door to the outside. You see, even though I appear to be sleeping, I can be awake, alert and ready to raise the alarm in seconds and if needed in less than a second. I take my job seriously- cut it out, Mindy, stop that laughing - right now!

Mindy's Mystery - revealed!

It's Mindy posting today. I want to tell you what happened on Friday night......... I got really nervous. It was a typical Friday night, though, and it was warm and still light. That means the door to the deck was open, so I was able to look out the screen door, smell the air and hear the sounds. Only thing is, there was something strange going on out there. I could hear something and smell something. Mom noticed I was curious but agitated. See my agitation pose in this picture?

Mom decided to go out onto the deck, 'n check things out. Boy, did she get a surprise! Ha, I tried to warn her. She looked over on the other side of the deck where we keep our 'green' cart and this is what was there.

She called it a racoon........I call it trouble! It was on our green cart. Mom tried to talk it into leaving - yeah, right. It was having none of that. Instead it seemed to think it was invited up onto the deck.......mom went back into the house real fast! She got a squirt bottle of water and went back out and had to use it on Mr. Racoon to convince him to leave....so much for talking him into leaving. Yep, I could'a told her that would be no good. Mr. Racoon lumbered, yes took his sweet time, and went up into our apple tree. This is not the end of my post, though. Mom did the strangest thing. She came back in the house and got her flashy box and went back outside to the apple tree, carrying the squirt bottle......then she took a picture of this trouble-maker!!
'Beans are very strange. Do other cats' beans act this strange?
