Snow on Friday!

Mindy says:

Last Friday when we posted there was snow and our pretty snowdrops, out in the garden, got covered over.   Quickly, the snow melted and we saw the pretty flowers again.  However, here it is Friday once more  and .....you have guessed by now our pretty flowers are covered in snow!

Mike

I was hoping for some rays of sunshine to bask in today.  I even picked out a spot near the window for my nap.

Moe

There are always birds to watch and introoders to watch out for.

Cookie

  Nap time for me and with a snack beside me, I am quite content!

Mindy

 I'll let you all know when the snowflakes stop.  Meanwhile, have a wonderful weekend everyone!

 

Friday Chill Out

 

Mike

I know how to chill out because I have the best chair which is close to whatever goes on.  Our super cold weather is milder today.  In fact we have rain just now.  That won't last long, because our weatherman, Kalin, has promised us that everything is going to freeze later today.  Glad I have this cozy chair and no worries about changing weather.

 

 

Cookie

There is a skylight in this room and I can hear the ping of rain switching to freezing rain!  The wind is high too.  Glad I am an indoor cat, I can 'chill out' and not worry about weather.

 

 

Moe



I just looked out the window into the yard.  I saw mombean putting lots of bird seed into our birdfeeder.  Not many birds to watch, they are sheltering in our trees.  Glad I am inside and not out there in the chilly rain.


Mindy

What happened to the sunshine we had yesterday?  Today I can hear rain on our windows however we still have our electric power on, unlike other places nearby.  I am going to spend the day on this bed and tune out the windy an rainy noises.  This is my idea of "chillin' out"


We hope our visitors are finding ways to 'chill out' too, wherever you may be.

Finally Friday

Mindy:

So Friday is here, but our hoomans are not, they are gone for most of the day.  We will keep an eye on things.

Moe:

Me too, I can see everything from here.

Mike:

With our people gone out, I can rest up on my favorite table, it is just my size.

Cookie:

I have two photos to show everyone.  These were taken yesterday when our humans went into the city.

This sailboat first.  It was sailing around in our big harbour.  I am not much of a sailor myself, but I think these people were enjoying themselves.

Had to show you this!  Have any of you ever seen a PINK bus?

It stops at the cruise ship terminal and takes passengers for a ride.  Not sure where.

I reminded our mombean that we are way behind in our posts.  The good weather is finally here and now there is lots to do outside and lots going on out there too. 

 

I am watching that naughty squirrel eat the birdseed.  Mom did not manage to get a photo of a bird feeding her baby bird in this feeder.  She will have to try again.

Meet Anders

 

She is a very pretty kitty and lives with mom and dad's oldest son.  She is a foster kitty and hasn't found the perfect home yet.....or maybe she has!

 

 

Here is sonbean fixing up the wreck room in his basement.

 

Anders is a very good supervisor and keeps track of all that goes on.

With her expert snoopervision he is sure to do a perfect job!

Fab Friday and Yum

 

Mindy:

Our mom and dad bean went out earlier, so I am 'holding the fort' while also taking a nap because it is hard work.  Last I looked, everything was just fine.

 

 

 Moe:

 You are doing a great job Mindy, I didn't even have to open my eyes even once.  It is so great to have a nice quiet time while the 'beans are out.

 

 

Cookie and Mike:

We need to share the water dish because there is only one upstairs.  Downstairs to the other big dish is a long way to go when you are thirsty.

 

 

Here is where our humans went - this is Bayswater Beach, Nova Scotia.

 These little birds are Semipalmated Plover.  They nest and raise their young here and then migrate as far as South America for the winter.  These ones are about to head south now.    

   Here is a close-up photo of one foraging on the beach and, look, it has found something!

Here is the best thing about living by the ocean

Fresh haddock.  Our neighbour has a fishing license and goes out in his boat occasionally to catch these.  This is where we say 'yum', so tasty!

Storm Warning Friday

Mike says:

It's still nice outside this morning so far.  Tonight we will get a visit from Tropical Storm Andrea.  So by tomorrow morning we should be getting a 'wind and rain event', which means I will plan a nap event, since bird TV will be off.



Moe says:





I think I will rest here a while and then go on a food hunt.

Cookie says:

I lay claim to the office/music room, it's cozy and warm in here and I am willing to share this space with my humans.

Mindy says:

I have some unsettling news, a different kind of 'storm'.  We live near a large harbour and this one has several lighthouses.  I was thinking that years ago, perhaps some of my ancestors lived in ones like this with the light keepers.  Sadly, some of these lighthouses are in jeopardy.

This one is on George's Island in Halifax Harbour, you can see it in this photo that our mombean took.  It is maintained by our federal government, but probably not for much longer.

Friday - Not Looking Forward to Weekend Weather!

We are supposed to get bad weather this evening, before midnight.  First rain, then on to freezing rain, snow, and eventually back to rain by tomorrow.  

We are simply going to ignore this situation.  We have many ways.  Take a look:


Cookie:  See my disgusted look.  When will I be able to go out on the deck again?

I want to see some nice green grass.  Will it ever turn green again?  
I will take a snooze while I wait.

Mindy: Oh, there's that darn flashy box!  I am looking a little bit crabby.

There! that's better, now I don't have the green 'lazer eyes' look.

Moe:  I just had a big fat idea.....

..... I know where to hunt for those delicious cat treats!!

I am almost certain that I saw them hidden in here!


Mike: Whatever,  I will stay comfortable right here.  Moe works best on his own.

However, if Moe does find something tasty - I'm right there!  

How are all of you going to spend your weekend - complaining and disgusted like we are - OR - are you going to share some exciting and/or interesting news wif us.   Show us some nice green grass, or some bright flowers, or some bird TV!   Well, you pick!!! 

Update!!!

As of 10:00 pm this evening, we looked out the door to see this, which is just getting started:

It is endless Winter even though it is officially Spring - however, Spring is not back from vacation yet.

It looks so wonderfully sunny outside today, BUT there is a strong wind AND it's chilly, chilly.....you know - cold!

Mombean says we've been spoiled with our lovely warm fall, that we'er 'due' for some cool temps.

Moe

Mindy you are right about this coolness, I feel it too, so I'll keep warm in this box on top of our mini fridge.  So glad I claimed it first.  

Cookie

Hello effurryone,  I'm in the upstairs hallway looking through the stair railing.  You know you two should come up here - heat rises, it's nice and warm up here.

Mike

You are right Cookie, I am at the top of the stairs - ah, feeling the warm blast on my fur.  Uh, did anyone figure out WHY it is so cold?  When I asked mombean about it, she said not to worry because the weather will warm up over the weekend.   I can wait, because in the meantime I will go take a long nap.
