Other news:

We gots a brand new trash can for da kitchen. Take a look!

Heavy duty, heh! It has a metal fastener on the lid, so that when our buddy, Mike, pushes it over, he can't drag out the trash and spread it over the kitchen floor. Aunty Bean found this trash container for mombean. So far - so good!

Come on, Mike, we know it's you. You sure make a racket in da kitchen, then we hear mom bean running to see what you are doing. Mombean says you always have your mouth open hollerin' for food.

See, here's another one of you doing that

After all that fuss Mike, did you get enough enuff to eat? Anyway we saw mombean smiling at the trash can, do you think she's a little stressed this morning?

Traditional Water Cannon Salute

Hi all, it's Mindy, your blog reporter for today.

Let me explain the title of today's post. Even better, I will show you all a picture first.

It is traditional that the first flight of an airline to an airport be saluted by plumes of water using fire fighting vehicles. This is ceremonial and the aircraft travels on the taxiway under the arch that is created. In this case it is Globespan just arrived from Scotland, making its inaugural flight into Halifax International Airport.

The reason mombean and aunty bean were at the airport is that grandbean was flying to Glagow, Scotland to visit with her sisters and brother and she was on its first flight out of Halifax. Our beans did not know the significance of this 'salute'at the time, only knew it was something special so took some pictures.

Mombean says she took this next picture for all of the Blogosphere members that love lobsters. It seems some passengers on this WestJet flight couldn't pass up the delicious Crustaceans they saw offered for sale at the airport. So here they are packed and traveling up the conveyor and into the aircraft.

That's a lot of lobsters! You can almost taste them, right?

Thursday/Friday

This post will have to make do for tomorrow as well.....(sigh).....it's hard to get decent help around here!

Mindy says:
Here's my brofur, Moe, trying to make himself handsome and dashing. Well handsome at least.

and here are three of the mancats around here: Moe, Mike and Bono

...wait, there is one mancat missing! Where is Cookie?

There in da kitchen. Gonna help with the dishes, Cookie?

Mindy says: I'm outa here. I think I will help mom change the bed sheets.
Oh, here is mom's hoodie on the bed, I need to apply some of my furs.

Just what I don't need .....

......help from Mike.

Thanks, but I don't need any help from you

Scram Mike, before I get really annoyed, and trust me, you don't want to annoy this girlcat!

Have a great weekend everyone. It will be a holiday weekend here because it's Victoria's birthday.

Our Foster Cats

Dear Readers,

It's Bono here today taking a turn at blogging. Back in September, I got adopted into the family. Tall Son finally has a lap cat - me!

I want show you the two kitties we are fostering. They are from the same group of cats I was from. Our previous person had rescued us and we lived with her for many years. When she died from cancer, we needed homes. Our present beans wanted to help us.

This is "Mike". Our beans did find a home for him, but he was not used to small kid beans and after a month he came back. Another family was interested in him, but decided not to take him. He is here with us and fitting in.

Mombean looks after a neighbor's toddler two days a week. Mike has gotten used to the small bean. It just took a little time, not long. We don't know how old Mike is, but our beans say he is at least ten years old, maybe more. Anyway, I don't think our beans are actively looking for a home for him. Mombean says he is both endearing and annoying. Well, she gets annoyed when he tips over the trash can in the kitchen. It is a big trash can, but then Mike is a big cat too, and capable of getting into lots of trouble like that. Not me, though, I only get into the trash when Mike knocks it over. See Moe in the background? He's in the napping box.

The other foster cat is Cookie. Yep, from the same group. He is a handsome senior tabby.

However, he has some health issues, but is doing fine. Our beans are not trying to find a home for him. He is quiet and spends a lot of time napping in mombean's office chair. It must be because she has a cozy pad on it. Only drawback is - Mindy doesn't like him. She simply avoids him and won't go near him. That means she eats her meals off by herself and has mom catering to her. A bit of a diva kitty isn't she?

So there you have it - five of us kitties. Mindy and Moe are the two tabbies on our header. They are brother and sister, now nearly eight years old and our bean's first cats. They used to have dogs before us.

Thanks for reading about us,
Hugs from Bono (aka Bon Bon)

Mother's Day

We want to wish all the moms out there, including our own, a very Happy Mother's Day!

Our azalea bush bloomed just in time to help us celebrate!

While mom was outside admiring the azalea bush she disturbed a humming bird. She did not see it, but heard it buzzing away, so they have returned for another season. She has their feeders up now because she knows they come looking for them.

Moe:
I am checking out some very bright quilt blocks mom made. She says she may make two small quilts out of them and is thinking of sending them to some small beans that survived an earthquake in Italy. I already have one of my own.

Bono:
Tall Son give us some excellent scritchies. Even Mike has learned that Tall Son isn't scary at all, he's just big and tall.

Mindy:

I am certainly wishing mombean a happy Mother's Day. She is my favoritist bean in the whole world.

Photo Hunt - Memorial

Photo Hunters

The Photo Hunters Scavenger Hunt was started by tnchick, and anyone can play along.

For our 'memorial' photo this week, we want to show you this one, taken by our mombean a couple of weeks ago:

This sculpture was carved as a memorial to the courage of the fishermen living in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. It took William deGarthe, the artist and sculptor who lived in the cove, ten years to complete. This memorial covers a 30-meter granite outcrop. Depicted are St. Michael, guardian angle of fishermen; several fishermen, their wives and children. The information is quoted from this site:
Destination Nova Scotia.

Mindy: That is a lot of work but the results are worth it. Mom says he even carved his pet seagull "Joe", into the sculpture, how nice.

Moe: I am glad I did not have to pose like "Joe the seagull", did. Ten years is a long time to complete the sculpture.

Bono:
Here I am posing with my foster brofur "Mike". Mom says he is very loud and talks back at her. He's a good snooze buddy though.

Life is Grand Award

We received the Life Is Grand Award from Tiger Lily and Cliff and Olivia
Thank you very much!

First: we must link to the kitties that gave us the award, which we have done. Next, we must give five reasons why life is grand.

1. We have beans that love us and take care of us. They spoil us with stinky goodness, ham, chicken and those bags of Temptations.

2. we all have our very own napping spots, most of them near a window.

3. Sometimes dadbean gets up in the middle of the night and he will give us a snack, usually because we insist on it and he is good enough to give in. Sure makes life grand.

4. We gots our own blog, even if it takes our beans a while to help us with the posts!

5. We think it is grand to be part of the blogging community and meet lots of friends.

Now we will pass this award on to five of those friends:

Our furcousin,Mickey, who needs some extra thoughts and prayers. He was back to the vet on Wednesday and his liver levels are still up. Now his vet wants him to have an ultrasound in order to pinpoint the reasons for this. He is not crazy about taking antybioticks, but he is getting them. Please get well soon.

Our good friends Roxy and Lucky. They need our thoughts and support. Their mom and Plus One were on their way to karate and got hit by a car that didn't stop after hitting them! They are okay, thank goodness.

Poppy Q, in far off New Zealand, we love reading about her adventures.

Jasmim is a fairly new blogger we have gotten to know. She is so darn cute, and we love reading about her day, but first we translate from Portuguese. Not hard to do.

One of our regular visitors is The Creek Cats. They are a group of rescued kitties and one dog that have a great blog and have lots of fun.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Moe: I sure am, 'cause I found where mom hid the Temptations!

Wordless Wednesday

Moe: Do I look cozy on a rainy, damp Wednesday?

Mindy: I am taking it easy

Mindy again: watching the birdies

Bono (aka Bon Bon): Meet my snooze buddy, Mike. He's the one that has the brown and white furs. Our beans are fostering him.

This is a picture of a serious brush fire, taken at the end of our road last week. It got out of control and destroyed eight homes and damaged another ten. People and their pets had to flee from it and go to the community center or stay with friends and family. We are safe, but are sorry for those who lost their homes.

Photo Hunt - Walking

Photo Hunters

The Photo Hunters Scavenger Hunt was started by tnchick, and anyone can play along.

These people are walking over the enormous rocks and enjoying one of the first warm and sunny days of this spring. About 20,000 years ago, this area was covered by glaciers. These eventually melted and shifted, and in doing so, they scraped away huge amounts of rock, vegetation and topsoil. What you see here is granite bedrock, scarred and scraped. The marks, which are still very much in evidence today, were left behind by the melting ice fields.

Moe:
That's very impressive, but I prefer 'walking' to the kitchen. Far more exciting, to me anyway.

Mindy:
For once I agree with you, Moe. I sure do appreciate my comforts, and I'll leave walking on the rocks to those brave souls in the picture.

Bon Bon:
I am amazed that our 'beans actually went there to get that picture. Sure isn't my thing though, much too far from the food room.

Have a great weekend everyone!
