Farewell Cookie

Last week we said goodbye to Cookie

He died of heart failure, June 13, 2016, after living with his condition for a very long time.  He was also a cancer survivor - and then he went blind five years ago.   He lived to be 19 years, at least we estimate that he was about that age.  None of us know his beginnings in life and he didn't share them with us, as he simply lived in the moment.  He had spent his last nine years happily with all of us and we miss him.

We will share some of the good times we had with Cookie over the years.

He was very helpful when TeamTabby was working on a blogpost.
He made sure we posted pictures of all of us and of course snoopervised while our mombean got the 'news' typed and ready to send.

Cookie in the office chair - if you are supervising the posts - where else would one be?

Cookie's favorite room was the office.

He really liked this pink rug, says it gave him the most comfy nap spot.

In the dining room where he could watch all the proceedings.....or is that his opportunities?

Do any of you like to get up on top of the refrigerator?

We miss you lots, Cookie.  We know, as you crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" you had lots of furriends and your furrcousin angels, waiting to greet you.
Always in our hearts

Purrs and love from,
Moe
Mindy
Mike
dadbean, and mombean Nina

Thank you Zoolatry
for this lovely graphic in remembrance of Cookie

My Saturday Bath

Cookie reporting in today.

My humans decided I needed the 'spa' treatment, which means putting an inch or two of water in the bathtub and  - here is the bad part - I got put into it.  This happened because apparently I don't do a good enough job of cleaning my toes.

Voila - well I must admit, they are much cleaner!  I would have been happy stopping right there, but oh no, I got my nails trimmed as well.

I was good, no crying or nipping.  However, there was one more insult. I needed my eyedrops today.   I am blind but my eyes sometimes get irritated, so the eye medicine helps.

You know, my humans do treat me well so they deserve some love.

I hope everyone has an easy, carefree Caturday and lots of love!

Monday As Usual

What was unusual you may wonder?

Our humans were away this past weekend on a mini vacation.

Mindy
Moe and me - Mindy - looked after things here at home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Our neighbour next door came in to give us our meals.  Other than that, Moe and I had the place to ourselves!

Moe
Yes, Mindy, we had our choice of napping spots!  Great time we had on our own, but not too long, just right.

Cookie
Mike and I went to our vet's because they run a boarding area for cats and dogs and our cat sitter was not comfortable with giving our medications.   First, the two of us needed to be up to date on our vaccinations as it has been a year already since the last ones.

Mike
Our vet decided it was time to do a health checkup as well.  Cookie and I are not fussy about being weighed and poked with the stabby needle.  We were in residence for two whole nights and were sure glad to get back home!

Home is best!!

Happy New Year 2015

We hope 2015 will be an awesome year for everyone!!

Mindy and Mike
We have not been around for a while due to supervising our humans through the holiday season.   We hope that everyone had a peaceful, or at least an enjoyable time throughout Christmas and the events to welcome in the New Year 2015.

All that snoopervising is exhausting, but at the same time very important, too.  What would our humans do without us?  When they had to be away from home, which was often, we made sure everything was purrfect for their return.

Our auntie and uncle beans finally got away from the freezing rain storm just in time.  By now they are in South Carolina.  We almost stowed away in their van, but we realized that we are needed here at home.

Cookie
I really find the winter months a bit chilly for my old bones.  If you notice the electric cord (coming out of my head!) ...it is connected to a heating pad.  I must say that lovely heat is just the thing for me!  I have several layers of towel on top of the pad, and it is just the right amount of that lovely heat.  It will be especially wonderful, because tonight our weatherman, Kalin, says that sometime tonight the temperature will drop to -15C.  You know, I am glad that I am an indoor cat, with my own room.  I get lots of company though, because this is also the bathroom.

Moe
Here I am - it is me, Moe.  I am in the upstairs hallway on the mat.  This is 'the' best spot, more or less in the exact center of the house.  The exact center means nothing escapes me.  Yes, yes in the photo I have my eyes closed - however - my ears are 'on'.  So, my ears are....hearing all, every tiny sound, especially from the kitchen.

Being in the middle of everything requires that I take occasional 'cat' naps....know this, nothing escapes my attention, especially if it is related to food, or a visit to our deck from the kitty that lives a few houses away.  When that happens, I go into action and deliver my best growls and hisses.  This works, eventually.

We hope everyone has a healthy and happy year in 2015!!

Tabby Thursday

Moe:

I am trying to figure out how to get into this room.  If I am patient, sooner or later it will be open!

Mindy:

I am getting my beauty rest.  Can't have enough rest or beauty!!

Mike:

I am on call.   Is anybody going to call me?  Calling me to come to dinner would be great!

Cookie:

I had to go to the vet on Tuesday.  My eye was watery and starting to develop infection.  The vet put some stain in my eye to check for an ulcer.  I am now getting an anti virus med and a lubricant and had my eye washed with a solution.   I was very good about it, I am proud to say and let the vet examine me.  I came home with two different meds for my eye.  I get one treatment, then in 15 minutes I get the other one.   Things have not got worse, but I hope there is an improvement soon.

Happy Thursday everyone!

PS - it has come to our attention that this is National Feral Cat Day - October 16th!

Finally Friday

Mike and Moe:
We've had such a busy week patroling the perimeter of our house and checking out of the windows into our yard looking for introoders.  However, we are still on duty  - we are just taking a break.  We deserve it!

Mindy:
Grooming is very important and I need to look absolutely perfect for when our mombean brings out that flashy box and takes my photo!!

Cookie:
At last I got to have some quality time with my dadbean.  Okay, maybe I had to yowl and get his attention.   this works as you can see,.....at least for me!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Our Hooman Beans are Back.

They had the nerve to book a bread and breakfast place in the Magdalen Islands, Gulf of St. Lawrence.....without taking us. Humph!

Auntie Bean came to look after Mindy and Moe, along with help from our next door neighbour, Bruno's human.  Bruno does not have a blog.

Mike and Cookie went to board at the vet's.  Our veterinarian, Dr. Karen, took good care of us even if she did send home some new meds to take.  Also some new foods to try out.......that was the good part, because it comes in a can and is delicious.

Mike says:
Mombean had to put this cone on me because I was attacking my ear because it was extremely itchy.   You can see the mess I made of my right ear.  This was right before our humans were due to leave, so they booked me and Cookie into the vet for those few days.

My vet thinks I have allergies so I am on a course of Prednisol; also a mild pain killer to take care of
my sore mouth, as I have a few issues with my teeth.  I came home with some 'senior' foods. At least I like the new diet.

Cookie says:
I got lots of attention from Dr. Karen when I was boarding there as well.  My issues are somewhat embarrassing  - loose stools.  I have some meds to try for my - ahem- situation.  I am already on a low protein diet, so I don't have any new foods to try out.

Mike and I made the best of our stay......however, we are very glad to be home and glad our hoomans finally returned and things are back to normal.

Fine on Friday

Cookie:  I is reporting today.

We wanted to post about our garden yesterday, but we couldn't get any photos.  It was because it rained so hard  and was not good for getting photos of it.  So our mombean went out foraging in the grocery store to pick up foods instead.

Today she went out to see if she could get me some pictures to show you.  The flowers got a bit mangaled from all the rain, however here are a few things in bloom - except for the Japanese Silver Fern - it doesn't bloom, but we like it.  There are some wild flowers and some our mom planted.  Hope these brighten your day, looking at them!

Because it is now sunny and warm - well, warm for us at 26C - your garden tour guide is  going to lounge in the office chair with the fan blowing on me.....ah this is the life!

Have a great day all!
