Mindy the Huntress

While the mancats around here were mooching for extra treats, I, was busy elsewhere.  Specifically, in the place where our beans keep the birdseed.

My stealth and hunting skills were rewarded with my capture of this trophy!  Okay,  okay I admit it was a small mousie, but it still counts!  I had to use my training and I was glad I practiced a lot with the toy mousies.  I am proud to join the ranks of the mighty feline hunters!

Oops, I almost forgot Mombean wanted to show you all the photo of the fireworks she took outside on our street.  Our neighbours were celebrating Canada Day last evening.

Those fireworks are really loud, and frankly, I don't see the fascination with them.  I am hoping for another mouse to catch instead.

Our mombean saw the small black kitty again this morning.  It was sitting on one of the big granite rocks in our yard.  She got a small dish of dry cat food to take out in case it was starving, but it fled as soon as it saw her.   The dish is out on the rock, but our bean says the bluejays will probably eat the food instead.

Moe and I were both born feral, but we are ever so glad we are loved and are so thankful to have a home of our own.

Love, Mindy

Happy Canada Day!

In honour of Canada Day, we put our country's flag in our nip garden.

It's our special garden and the  catnip is doing fineWe tried some of the nip already.

Mike:  um, yep, I think this year's crop is excellent.

Moe:  Yes, Mike, for once I would agree with you

Cookie:  I am not as crazy for nip as you are, I like the Canada flag better.

Mindy:  I like a little nip myself, so constrain yourselves and leave some to grow!

As you can see, we are celebrating Canada's birthday, 145 years old today.
We don't like those fireworks, but our beans do.   So, we hope they have a great time.

Sights on Saturday

Moe: My turn,  I is checking in today.

Last evening our beans went out for supper, but not before we got our dinner.  It's important to have a full tummy at all times, even if our beans think otherwise.

Just after they left we heard a rumble outside and the sky got dark. Very soon the sun came back out.   Our mombean took this picture while they were driving in the car.

We hope the storm cloud went to Colorado where they need the rain badly.

This morning I was snoopervising at our window and saw an introoder cat, in our yard, watching our birdies!

Mombean saw it and said it looked to be a kitten, it was so little.

Our bean went outside, but the small kitty got scared and ran away.

Mombean thought that the kitty didn't look very healthy.  See those patches on it's black furs?  We do hope it does, in fact, have a home to go to.

I will watch for it at the window, but first I need a snack.  I remember mombean used to keep a bag of Temptations in this cupboard.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Feisty on Friday

This is my special 'no nonsense' glare - directed at the mancats around here.

Sometimes they are too silly for words!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

Mindy:  Here are some things I can see from my window ledge

I watch these birdies every day.  This one, the camera caught on the fly!

It is a purple finch - even though it looks red to me.

This colorful butterfly decided to take a rest, so we can admire it.

These pretty columbines planted themselves in our garden.  We have quite a few of them.

One more photo - of me.  Can you guess I am not fond of that flashy box!

Have a great midweek day everyone!

Rain on Saturday

Our rain held off until just a little while ago, so we were able to watch out of our windows and spy on the birds, the chipmunk and squirrel.  Our mombean seems to fill the feeders for them quite often.

Cookie:     We keep reminding her that our dishes need a constant supply of yummy goodness.  She doesn't always pay enough attention.

Mike:    Every so often I have to wake from my snoozing and remind mombean that our dishes need refilling - I'm good for that job because I am a loudmouth!

Mindy:    Yes, Mike, you totally are!  That's makes you useful, which is good....I just wait until I hear you yeowling and when I hear success - I make my appearance when the snacks have been delivered.

Moe:   I don't know how any of us can get a decent nap around here.  There are big trucks going back and forth on our street.  They are only hauling dirt!  What possible use can that be?

We are wondering why our beans took out the closet in the upstairs bedroom, they made a big mess, even bigger than we could ever make.

Now they will have to fix it, and we are NOT snoopervising that job!  They are on their own.

Instead of the above eyesore photo, here is a more appetizing, oops...., a more appealing photo for our visitors to appreciate.

This lovely dove, sitting on our deck.

....and how about these?  They live across the street from us.

On Thursday, mombean went out with Georgia & Tillie's mombean to visit the harbour.  They were riding on the ferry and saw these people fishing.  We wish we could have been there to inspect their catch!

While our mombeans were leaving the ferry, they saw a mink scampering among the rocks at the shore.  The officer who works on the ferry said he had seen three or four of them lately! We don't think we would want to visit with those critters.

We hope everyone is having a grand weekend.

Monday, Monday

Birdseed is not just for birds!  Chippy, is taking advantage of this special treat.  It comes every day, to our backyard, to eat seeds we put out for the pheasant.    Sometimes Chippy gets in a fight with the squirrel over the seeds........we wish we were allowed out there......in the yard.

Moe: back to wishing, hoping and dreaming of squirrels, birdies and that tasty looking, fat-cheeked chipmunk!

A Typical Sunday

You would think that there are no other comfortable spots for these two.   Mike has the edge because he has staked out ownership of the sofa for himself.

However, Moe feels that since he lived here long before Mike arrived,  all the comfortable spaces are his.

Mindy says:  ignore them -

come and see me as I am smarter and better looking!!

Easy Like Sunday

Moe: taking it easy

This bumblebee is NOT taking it easy!
