In the Garden on Thursday

We have a garden, so we thought we would participate in the Society of Feline Gardeners with Jonesie and Figaro

Mike here, and I am showing you around our Garden today.

This flowering bush is 'climbing honeysuckle'. It does need a fence to climb on, a sturdy fence preferrably. Actually there are two bushes here - one is rosey pink and the other orangey pink. I can't believe I am saying this; it's as if I know what I am talking about!!

The hummingbirds really like this bush, here is a close-up of the flowers.

Next up is one of our yummy-looking critters. It takes birdseed and hides it in several of its dens.

This is another visitor to our garden. I am thinking it is called Hummingbird Moth. Anyone know for sure?

Okay, moving along. This is our bird bath and some hostas.

Nearby is a Japanese Fern.

You are probably wondering by now, how I know so much about gardening. It is all written out for me. I was bribed asked if I would do this while my sisfur and brofur went off to Bora Bora.

I have one more critter picture to show you, and it's a lovely delicious-looking robin.

That's all for this week, the end, I quit! I am so exhausted.....I need a nap. Please have some nip-ade, and find your own way out.

Cheers, Mike

Bora Bora Here We Come

The two of us, Moe and Mindy, have decided to join Gracie in Bora Bora!

Yesterday at our place, it thundered loudly for hours and we don't like that. Tonight the thunder and lightening has started up again - is there no end to this? Of course, that means it is raining again, too. We were going to join Cory to attend the weekly meeting of the Society of Feline Gardeners at the Headquarters. However, because of the impossible weather and our mom's busy, we packed and have already left and arrived to absolutely beautiful weather.......Oh, we feel so much better!!

We left BonBon, Cookie and Mike behind because they couldn't all agree on when and if they are coming. Also, we told them they were packing way too much stuff, so that caused a very heated discussion. So, in a nutshell - a coconut one - they are going to make their own arrangements.

Oh, this is the life! Later, we're going fishing, and meet up with our friends.

Rainbow, Thunder and Lightening

On Tuesday our day went well, until about 5:00 pm......

See us? - Moe and Mindy - in the stairwell, where we feel safe.
We heard noises outside da house. Mom went out on the deck to check. This is what she saw.

We were informed that a thunderstorm was beginning. Our powers went out - twice! We decided to keep hiding in the stairwell. It rained very hard and thunder rolled. After an hour it got brighter. We saw a glimpse of the sun and then this rainbow!

There are two rainbows in this picture.

We enjoyed the rainbow lots, we liked the colors.

The sun was setting, and we thought the storm was over, but oh, no!

This time mombean got a photo of lightening! The storm was NOT over.

Mindy: I stayed put in the stairwell, but Moe ran under the bed. We were stuck in our hide-y places until after midnight!! Can you guess that we do not like storms that flash and boom?

Monday With BonBon

I am also known as 'Bono' at the place where I am living now because my old nickname "Bonnie" didn't suit a mancat, mombean says. She found out that I am sixteen years old. I could have told her that, but I let her figure it out for herself.

Mombean says I always look this sad, even when I am happy.

When I needed a home, my new family took me in. That was about two years ago, or maybe it was three, I don't keep track.

When I was at my old home, I was a 'scaredy-cat because there was a lot of other cats there too, and some were bullies. I spent a lot of time on my own in the kitchen on a window sill. It was okay though, but I was very happy to leave there and come to live here, where I am now. I get along with my new buddies that came here before me.

My favorite things in life are mealtimes, sleeping, watching water run out of the tap and getting attention from my beans. I give purrs and headbutts when I am content, but still all low-key expressions of affection. I have been known to chase the occasional feather thingy, but that stuff is for the younger kitties here - you know, the ten year old ones.

I have a favorite cardboard box lined with a soft towel to curl up in. If you have any questions for me, you will find me asleep in my box.

Cookie is Thankful!

Cookie here: All of your purrs, grrrs, purrayers, whinnies, stomps, chirps and snorts of encouragement and positive feelings for me, have been working!!
I can see again! THANK YOU!!

Perhaps not 100 percent, but I am well able to go from room to room without bumping into anything. As many of you already know, I went to my vet to get my teeth cleaned, but something unusual happened that never occured at that clinic before - I lost my sight when I woke up. They took good care of me and did lots of research and said there was a chance I would regain my sight within two weeks, but I was their first case of this unusual occurence.
After a week and a half, I went back to the vet for followup and had a great check-up......and they gave me a test. They tried standing in front of me, but I went around the vet and the vet-techs without running into them. This made them so happy. Of course I am even more happier that I did not run into anyone or thing!
I still have trouble with depth perception, at least I heard the beans talking about this. Not sure what that is but I think it is why I am not allowed to go up and downstairs on my own - on account of, I can't see the edges of the steps very well.
Oh, and the vet said I couldn't go outside. I promised I would stay on the deck, but of course that is a NO for me. I guess they know I will try to get off and go look for some yummy grass to chow down on. Guess I will have to stay in our office and make sure mombean gets our posts organized to publish.
Look, I have the office chair first.

I am so thankful that everyone's healing thoughts for me have helped me through my struggles with temporary blindness - at least it was temporary! Now I want to take a moment to pass on my own purrs and purrayers to all of those in the Cat Blogosphere that are in need and have their own serious health issues. Mombean was telling me that there are many that we need to keep in our thoughts and in our hearts.

Headbutts and purrs from Cookie.

Fog on Friday

Hi, it's Mindy.

I am watching the mancats I live with. Moe is really being silly because mombean brought in a few catnip leaves from our plant on the deck. I like it in moderation, but Moe goes nuts.

The others, meh, take it or leave it. Moe? He looks a little 'out of it'.

I think I will find a comfortable spot to spend today. Yesterday mom took this photo of our sky in the morning, only the sun was redder than this

Then mom came up with one of her mom-isms - it went like this.
'red sky in the morning, sailors take warning'

If you say so mombean! We did get wind and then fog

This is our front yard, our roadway and beyond is our neighbour's yard and you can definitely see fog.

Our local forecast for Friday is possible thunder showers -oh no! at the first boom, I will be in hiding.

Helpful on Thursday & Farewell to Ninifee

We just found out that our friend Ninifee in Germany, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to join her boyfriend Pigeldy. Christiane is heartbroken and we have lost a good friend. We send comforting hugs and purrs.
..............................

Well, we had good intentions today. We were going to help mombean wif da laundry.

Mombean says it's gonna rain today so she is putting it off. Darn, we always snoopervise and make sure the laundry has lots of furs. Sometimes, oops, it lands on da floor.

Cookie says:

Mike is trying out my new 'room'

I think he finds it comfy.

Cookie Reports

Cookie on Wednesday: I'm giving a bit of an update --

All of your purrs, purrayers and good thoughts have been working for me - a big THANK YOU!! Even though I am still without sight, I'm a much happier mancat. Confusion is now being replaced with routines and I can find things better. Mombean helped me figure out how to get in and out of my 'room' (the giant-sized woofie crate) . It has a lip on the front about 4 inches high, so mombean left the door open and put my front paws up over it onto the floor outside and left my hind paws inside it, and I went out like this a few times. Now that I know I am not going to fall of a cliff, I go in and out on my own now, which is good 'cause that's where my things are.

Mike comes in and hangs out wif me, just like old times, but he has a habit of helping himself to my snacks. I got lots of those and mombean says I have even put on some weight. She and da vet worried I wasn't eating and drinking enough - ha! That stinky goodness I get sure is yummy.

I'll update if I have more news to share and once again thanks so much for your support, it has meant a lot to all of us!! The CB is so caring.

Cookie: I'm much calmer today. Yep, that means that I wasn't when I woke up at the vet hospital and couldn't see anything. Since I can't see to get around, I need a safe place to stay when no one is around to help me, like at night.

At first I fought being my new 'room'. I tipped over my water dish and then walked through my litter box, of course I shook my paws. Mom said I was messy, the wet litter makes a kind of mud which dries like cement.

Mombean had to put me in a tub with a couple of inches of water. Yuck.

That was okay because I couldn't really clean my feet with all that litter clay on them.

Then she had to clean the tub.

My beans got me a new kind of litter called silica crystals.

I tried walking on it and it sounds crunchy and feels strange, but I'm getting used to it. I can't make as much mess with it - oh well, fun while it lasted. Even though it is low, I am still sometimes missing the box. My new 'room' is such a nuisance.

My favorite thing to do though is get comfortable in my new bed, which is in 'my' our office and guide mombean through our blog posts when I know she is at the computer.

As you can see I take frequent snooze breaks. These pictures show I have no tail, that is because I am also a cancer survivor and have had my tail tumor removed a year and a half ago. That adjustment wasn't as hard as this one is.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Mancat Monday

Mombean, when you took my photo, were you playing around with da camera's filters?
