National Feral Cat Day

This morning I looked at our calendar -

 

 

Did you know that October 16th is National Feral Cat Day?

 

Since I was born feral and eventually rescued, I want to pay tribute to all who  rescue or help feral cats in any way.

 

One person who does this is Pierre's Alley Cats and his special mission is to rescue the many 'dockyard cats' found in our port city.

 

We bought two of the calendars which are sold as a way to raise funds for the kitties at the dockyard.

 

 

This calendar has proven to be very useful!  Today, 16th October, is National Feral Cat Day and if you look ahead the 29th October is National Cat Day!

 

Oh, yes, Thursday the 31st is Halloween!  Do you have your costume picked out yet?

 



Stray Cat

Mindy says:  More news on the black cat we have been seeing in our yard.  

We were not sure if this kitty is a stray or a feral. It calls out to us, which is a good sign that it is a stray. Both our mom and our neighbour have been leaving out food and water. 

On the weekend, our mom brought out food as usual, and the small black kitty walked by the food and came over and rubbed against her.  Yay, this is a friendly stray, but very thin, kitty.     After a while, it came up on our deck and mombean was able to pick it up and put it on her lap.   We wonder how and why such a nice kitty is wandering alone,  probably for quite a while judging by how underweight she is.   Yes, it is female.   We do, however,  live in an area where there are fox, coyotes, raccoons - it is not safe to live outside for a cat.   

Here is a photo of her, taken a few days ago.  Did we mention, she is very sweet?

Update!!
We have some exciting news.  She has gone over to our furcousins, they are so excited to have her come and stay with them....forever.  We think this is pawsome and we hope that she really likes her new home.

Mindy:  I am in charge of our blog this morning.

See my laptop?   It does not fit my paws very well, so I get mombean to do the typing.

Here is Bono (the hopeful).  He loves milk or cream.  But, guess what, I don't think that there is any of that
 left in the small pitcher.

Cookie is also in the kitchen.  If there are going to be handouts, he is ready and waiting!

  

Before I forget, I wanted to show you our fall crocus.  They were quite lovely, until we had all that rain last Thursday.

Also some people in our area have started decorating for Halloween, some in a big way!

Oh, there is my brother, Moe.    Yes, we are litter mates, and sometimes I tease him, he doesn't like that, but that's okay because he can't get into my hiding place!!

Last there is Mike.  Last because, he was the last one to come into our family.  He is the biggest and loudest of all us kitties here.
