Mancat Monday

Moe says:   Miss Callie is on our bar-b-que!

It is my job to discourage this behavior.

I did my best giving the - stink eye!
Just to be sure, I added my best yowl.

It worked!

She has gone home, and is not bothering our hummingbirds that come to our feeder.

Mindy:

Good job, Moe!  Yes, she has left our deck and has gone.

Another good thing, I think the rain has stopped - for now.

Happy Monday to everyone!

Mancat Monday - Purring for Eric

Good  Mancat Monday morning everyone, from me, Moe.  Hope this week will turn out good for all of you.

Now, I need to ask a favor.   Our pal, Eric in Devon, England, is not doing so well.  He needs our healing thoughts and purrayers.  So lets all get together on this and  let's hope for good news soon!

Update: -  RIP Eric.....our hearts are broken, he was our friend since we started blogging in 2007.  We will miss him so much.  Our condolences to his brofur Flynn and his mom and dad.

Mancat Monday, a little Nip

Moe:       My mombean saw how big our catnip plant is getting, so she harvested some of the leaves.  She saw how excited I was to smell the fresh catnip on her fingers so she put some on our Ess.

Ah, such bliss!

I am simply crazy for catnip, mmmmmmmm!

I think this year's plant that she got at the market is especially powerful, ahhhh.

Excuse me while I zone out for a while.

Meanwhile you can check out the yummy fresh haddock mombean bought from our neighbour - he went fishing over the weekend.

We kitties love fish, and we're sure our beans will share some, 'cause it is good to share. Yum!

Mancat Monday

Moe is snoopervising

I hope I don't get in trouble by looking through this curtain. I'm on duty, at the window, but I didn't tear da curtain.

(PS...photo of Moe was taken by the younger sonbean)

Mancat Monday

Moe: I am considering. What is my plan for today? Do I need a plan?

Bono: I definitely have a plan. You are currently viewing my plan for today.

Last Monday, the 24th of November, it was a beautiful day. Perfect for the opening of lobster season on our shore. Anyone out there like lobster?

This day is called 'setting day', that's when you are allowed to set your lobster pots into the water - if you have a license.

Here are some of the pots or traps, both traditional wooden and more modern wire ones. No matter, both types are heavy.

There was a snowstorm two days before opening season, so these traps are filled with snow. Also bait and weights.

The day after 'setting' day is 'looking' day. Rules are firm, one must not haul the traps and look for lobster before this.

In less than half an hour, this fishing boat was off to another part of the bay to set the traps. The season will last until the end of May, however, most of the 'catch' will occur by the end of December in this bay. After December the water gets colder and the lobsters tend to stop crawling into the traps and the catch falls off. It is also very cold and damp for fishing later on, so some of the traps are taken out when fewer lobsters are caught. Each area in our province has its own lobster season. When it is open in our bay, it is closed somewhere else.

It is very hard work to do this type of fishing, so we are glad we are cats and if all goes well, maybe our beans will buy a lobster and share it with us.

Bono, Our New Mancat

This first picture introducing Bono was created using a digital artwork kit from Twisted Challenges

Since this is Mancat Monday, we would like to introduce our new mancat, Bon Bon. We are calling him "Bono". Sometimes Tall Son calls him Whitety. He is 13 years old as far as we know. His former owner has passed away so he needed a home.

At first, we were very annoyed that our beans would even think of bringing him here. So, we had a decision to make - does he stay? or does he not?

After two weeks with us - we decided - he can stay.

We have lots of space and hide-y spots for all of us. Bono is much faster at going up and down stairs now. He wasn't used to stairs. He has discovered how cool our attic is and likes to go up there when strange beans come to visit. In fact, the afternoon is siesta time anyway and we usually all go off to our favorite spots....unless something exciting is going on. Mom sometimes has trouble finding us.....cool, huh?

Bono has always been an indoor cat, so he doesn't mind being inside and looking out the windows.

Mancat Monday

I watched mom on Sunday afternoon getting stuff out of the attic. It was the first day of Advent she said. Then she started moving things around. I watched and hoped that she didn't forget to feed us with all the (unnecessary) activity......I had to remind her! Mom says I reminded her too early. Well, I was worried. I better get on wif posting my mancat picture.

Here is what mom did in the dining room.

Those snowmen are hand blown glass and were made by dadbean many years ago when they still had a glass blowing shop at work and before the glass blower retired. I don't know who knitted the scarves the snowmen are wearing.
