Close to Home

Today, instead of our being in front of the camera, we have decided to do a photoshoot of places and things close to our home.


This is our magnolia tree in our front yard. Mom saved some seed from this tree and got them to germinate. She gave away baby magnolia trees to da neighbours. One tree for sure has 'taken'..... and now is a whopping six inches high, ha, ha.


















This is our azalea bush in our backyard.



















And in our side yard - a lilac bush


















Moving along our road to "the Trail". It used to be a railway for trains, but the trains and their rails are gone. Now it has been rebuilt for recreation - walking, cycling, horseback riding - it goes for miles and miles.



















Near the Trail is Lookout Park. It is a natural preserved park with mostly native trees and only a few paths are mowed for getting around. There are lots of birds here. Mom sometimes picks blackberries here.



















On one side of the park, is the wharf. It gets used a lot. The people on the wharf are hoping to catch some mackerel. If you catch one, you have to put it in your bucket, because the seagulls will steal it when you are busy trying to catch another fish.




















Follow another path in the park and you arrive at a small beach. The small house and studio are owned by an artist. The tide seems to be out.

Closer to shore, a mama duck came along with her small babies.



















We think they were headed for the salt marsh, which is on the landward side of the small beach.
